Oregon: Summer Lake Hot Springs

Summer Lake Hot Springs is a rustic resort located deep in the central region of Oregon known as the "Oregon Outback'. It is located about 90 minutes from Bend, Oregon. This is an ideal place to escape for a couple of days of relaxing; walking, hiking and of course soaking. There is no Wi-Fi here and the cell service is patchy - so it is real getaway from the daily routines.

India: Varanasi – The Suryauday Haveli review

We had for a long time wanted to visit the sacred Hindu city of Varanasi, and were not disappointed when we finally made it. For our 3-day stay we were based in the the Suryauday Haveli hotel which is right on one of the ghat on the Ganges River - a perfect place for exploring this fantastic city

Wyoming: Cody – Cody Trout Ranch Camp

If you are looking for a place to stay near the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park then the tipis at the Cody Wyoming Trout Ranch are a great option. They are extremely cosy and well-appointed - so this is glamping.

Oregon: Baker City – Geiser Grand Hotel

We spent a night at the splendid Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City, Oregon. This historic hotel opened in 1889 and saw a meteoric rise during the Gold Rush times when it got its nickname "The Queen of the Mines" and was described as the best hotel between Portland, Oregon and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Minnesota: Preston – Jail House Inn

We're always searching for unusual places to stay and after spending time on the Internet I found the Jailhouse Inn in Preston, Minnesota which turned out to be a gem. I had booked the cell block - so we had a set of cells to ourselves and a tub with jets!

Ohio: Berlin

The Amish and Mennonites have been depicted in many movies and feature in documentaries and reality TV programs. We wanted to find out more behind the peaceful and simple cultures so we headed to Berlin, OH in Holmes County, where there is the highest density of Amish and Mennonites in America.

Idaho: Cottonwood – The Dog Bark Park

I have spent a lot of time investigating unusual places to stay and one that consistently come up during my research was Dog Bark Park in Cottonwood, Idaho. So, as we journeyed through the panhandle of north Idaho it was the ideal opportunity to check the place out for real.
