Mauritius' southwest is the sunniest and driest region of the island, with a nature and landscapes that will remind you of the African savanna. In the mountains Charamel has many natural wonders and the coast is home to Le Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Considered by many as the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius, Grand Bassin or the Ganga Talao is a large lake formed out of a crater.It is surrounded by several colorful temples and idols of gods and goddesses.

The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden is located in the proximity of Port-Louis in the district of Pamplemousses and is home to an incredible variety of tropical plants - many of them being indigenous.
